Always be yourself...or a Mermaid

Good Evening Crafters

Not long now until our holiday combined with my sister's Wedding, two years of planning and it's almost here! So please forgive me if I don't get to comment on your blogs for a few days.

Today I wanted to share a scene I created using a background I made with Kuretake Clean Color Real Brush pens.  I used these colours with a beach type scene in mind.

I used the free stamp set from Creative Stamping magazine and my Tim Holtz stamping tool by Tonic, which was the free gift with the subscription to the magazine.  It arrived last week and this is the first chance I've had to experiment with it and I love it.   I think I will be using this a lot so expect more stamped projects to appear on the blog as I have a lot of stamps and heaps that are un-inked!

Supplies used;

Kuretake Clean Color Real Brush Pens - Keep on Crafting
Wink of Stella pens - Keep on Crafting
Memento Dew Drop Inks - Keep on Crafting
Watercolour cardstock - Keep on Crafting
Nautical Stamps - Creative Stamping magazine

Please do take a look at the Keep on Crafting website, postage to the UK is free when you spend over £3, or if you're in the area why not pop and grab yourself some crafty bargains.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Prima Mixed Media Pt 2 - Keep on Crafting

It's been an extremely wet Wednesday here in Suffolk so I had a very soggy doggy walk (but Fergus really enjoys the puddles so that was fun) and I was almost able to swin to the village library bus!  Today I'm back with my second card made at the Prima workshop at my local craft shop Keep on Crafting on Saturday.   I added a few items from my stash after the workshop as I decided to change a few pieces and add elements when I got home.

Supplies used;
White Gesso paint
White Wow embossing powder
Net & Wire Prima Stamp
Chrome & Iris Color Bloom Spray
Chipboard Flourish
Pebeo High Viscosity Studio Iridescent Silver Acrylic paint - stash
Prima Lace Trim (flowers)
Die cut flower
Wow Clear Embossing Powder
Wow Clear Stamp pad & bonding powder
Wow fab foil
Sparkly twine, staples and pearl (coloured with a Sharpie) - stash
Silver Papermanis Embossing Powder - stash
Lilac Heat It Up Embossing Powder - stash
Wish sentiment from 7 Gypsies stamp set - (Papercraft magazine exclusive)

I prepared the base at the workshop spreading on the gesso with a spatular to give it some texture. More texture was created by used the stamp and white embossing powder to create a resist against the Color Bloom sprays.  These are now on my wish list.  The lace flowers and die cut flower are also sprayed with the Color Bloom, the die cut flower was then embossed with clear powder and scrunched, I added the pearl at home.

I originally painted the flourish pink but wasn't happy, so added foil but I felt it was too over-powering so painted it to silver at home.  I also added foil to the base, I like the patchy look of this rather than a solid block of foil as I feel it adds to the texture and interest.

A few extra bits I added at home are the Wish sentiment embossed with two colours of powder mixed and a touch of silver embossing around the top and bottom edge.  Then I took some sparkly twine and randomly stapled it  The twine is left over from a nail and string art kit from the 1960/1970s, if you don't know what I'm talking about click on this pinterest link to take a look at some modern ideas using this retro hobby.

Don't foget most of these products can be purchased at Keep on Crafting either in the shop or online. Postage to UK is free when you spend over £3.  If you can't find something pop over to the Facebook page and send a message.

Steampunked Father's Day Card - Emerald City Crafts

Greetings bloggers, followers, visitors and guests!

I'm shocked at how quickly this month is going, and next month it will be Father's Day, it doesn't seem 5 minutes ago it was Mother's Day, which, for my visitors from across the pond, is in March in the UK.

Some time ago I purchased the Steampunked ephemera pack from Emerald City Crafts as I thought it would be ideal for masculine cards.  I had forgotten that I had put this card together, just added the die cut letters today.

Supplies used;

Black cardstock - Anna Marie Designs

Kuretake Workshop - Keep on Crafting

Good evening peeps!

I hope your weekend was fun, mine certainly was, if a little hectic too!  On Saturday morning I attending my local craft store, Keep on Crafting in Bury St Edmunds where the very talented Chris Stevens held a Kuretake Clean Colour Real Brush workshop.  These pens have long been on my wish list but I love to work and experiment with a product first, if possible, before I commit to buying it. Obviously this is the great thing about classes and workshops at Keep on Crafting, it's also a bad thing as I nearly always end up buying something, in fact most of my monthly craft budget gets spent in Keep on Crafting!

As you would expect from Kuretake the pens are top quality and the colour spectrum is amazing! Big patches of the bright colours work best to make these stiking backgrounds, simply scribble your colours and spritz with water and wait for the magic to happen!

There are 80 colours available in these pens and I bought 12 on Saturday, I based my choices around the Floral and Henna colours that Dali Graham uses but I'll definitely be adding to my collection.

Supplies used;
Pre-scored white 7 x 7 inches base card - Keep on Crafting
Watercolour Cardstock - Keep on Crafting
Kuretake Clean Colour Real Brush pens - Keep on Crafting
Paperartsy flower and leaf stamps - Keep on Crafting (sorry I forgot to note the name of the sets.)
Versamark Ink Pad
Sentiment Stamp - Bee Crafty
Dovecraft Black Pigment Ink Pad
Heat It Up Clear Embossing Powder
Black, Green, Pink & Purple Stabilo Point 88 fine 0.4 pens (to add the doodle).

I have another background to use and share too.

Red Hot Rockabilly - Lelli-bot Crafts

Happy Friyay!

How has your week been?  Mine has been super busy.  We had new doors and windows fitted on Tues and Weds, a full house on Thurs (mum, dad & an uncle who lives in America, my friends little girl and two dogs!).  Today I have been decorating the house ready for my sister's Hen Crafternoon on Saturday, that's after a Kuretake class in the morning and lunch at Frankie & Bennys (which is also part of my sister's hen celebration).  I will try to share photos and video of my sister's hen-do but she is incredibily camera shy, so, we shall see.

Today I'm sharing a vintage style card made using the Red Hot Rockabilly from Lelli-bot crafts. Some of you will know that I adore Lelli-Bot Crafts, you can make fab cards quickly as you have everything you need in one kit.  You can also buy the individual pieces, so if you want extra embellishments, no worries, run out of toppers, no problems.

They also do stamps in some of the ranges too, I used a star stamp from the Rockabilly set to create a tattoo on the topper.  Also, in my opinion, they products are incredibly well-priced.
Supplies used;

Funky Birthday - Visible Image

Good Evening Crafters & Visitors!

My friends' little girl recently turned 9, I was struggling to think of what to do for her card when my mum reminded me that she loves to sing.  She is taking lessons and has leading parts in a dancing & singing group she belongs too.

I have used one of my Brusho backgrounds made at Keep on Crafting, layered on to black lined paper. After stamping the singer on to a Brusho background I cut around the dress, stamped the singer again on to white cardstock, heat embossed it, fussy cut it & attached the dress using 3D glue gel. Stamped the music script with Distress Oxide.

I die cut the sentiment from the same Brusho background, used texture & stencil for the number 9. Finally I added a few ink splatters.

Supplies used;
White cardstock - Creative Crafting World
Black lined paper - stash
Brusho - Keep on Crafting
Tim Holtz Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Inkn - Keep on Crafting

Hello Guests

Unfortunately a dear friend of mine recently lost two family members.  I wanted to send her a card, not a sympathy card but just a note to say I was thinking of her.

I used a vellum sheet over cream card, stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on to a die cut panel from the kit and added die cut butterflies.

Supplies used;

Antique Flora Decoupage

Greetings peeps!

Wow, half through the week already and nearly the end of the month!

This card was really quick and simply to make, I have used half a sheet of vellum over white cardstock and added die cut elements including die cut vellum flower decoupage all from the kit.  I didn't add a sentiment so I can add it at a later date once I have decided for what occasion I'm going to use this card.

Supplies used;

Birds & Brusho

Evening all!

I am bit late posting this as it's been a very busy week but I did find some time to squeeze in some crafting when my Making Cards magazine arrived yesterday.

The colours of this cute bird remind of some Brusho backgrounds I made a while ago which I thought would coordinate perfectly.  I added some distress ink to the papers and images so everything toned in.

Supplies used;
Matt Mirror card - Creative Crafting World
Patterned paper and images - Making Cards magazine May issue
Brusho, to create backround.
Tim Holtz Seedless Preserve Distress Ink
Sentiment stamping - Making Cards magazine April issue
Memento Rich Cocoa Ink

Have a great weekend.  Creative Blessings.  x

Santoro Kori Kumi Collection Part 2 - Craft Consortium

I hope everyone is having a good week so far.  Today I'm sharing 3 more makes using the Santoro Kori Kumi range from Craft Consortium, if you missed Monday's post you can catch up here.

This time I'm using, what I'm calling, the "windswept Kori Kumi". 😏  This is just how my hair styles itself on a windy day!

For my first card I have layered just the topper, which I outlined with white marker, on black card then on to marble effect paper and embellished with gems, ribbon and a button.

Supplies used;

Black cardstock - Anna Marie Designs
Background paper - Docrafts Capsule Liquorice Sherbet

My second card uses all the layers of the 3D decoupage and a sheet of the decoupage (decopatch) paper for the background.  I have embellished with a die cut and stamped sentiment and gems.

Jet Black Premium Pigment Ink Pad - Dovecraft

I have to admit that I'm not so happy with my last card, this is not the idea I had in my head but such is life!  I used torn strips from the decoupage (decopatch) paper, 3D decoupage without the base layer and added a little sparkle to her pockets.  I have finished the card by embellishing with a balloon stamp and sentiment.

Santoro Kori Kumi Collection - Craft Consortium

Greetings peeps!

I hope you had a good weekend, for those of us in the UK it was long weekend with two bank holidays, which was wonderful.

Last year I was lucky enough to win a Santoro Kori Kumi decoupage set & papers Craft Consortium Ltd and this weekend I finally got around to making some cards.  I popped out and built-up all the decoupage on Thursday afternoon.  There are four designs and two sheets of each but I decided to stretch the kit by using some of the toppers separately.

On Sunday afternoon I sat down to make some cards, today I am sharing the first three cards I made. I was really drawn to the black and white image so I started with those.

For my first card I have decoupaged the images but not used the first layer, I adhered them to a black card stock and then on to a sheet of marble effect paper from my stash and added some sequins and some washi tape along the spine.

Supplies used;
Santoro Kori Kumi - Craft Consortium Ltd
Background paper - Docrafts Papermania Capsule Liquorice Sherbet
Black cardstock - Anna Marie Designs
Sequins - Poundland
Washi tape - stash

For my second card I have decoupaged the image and included the base layer, outlined it with white pen.  I have embellished the card with a die cut banner, button, feather, paper flowers and brad coloured with a black marker.  To finish I have stamped and heat embossed a sentiment in the corner of the topper.

Supplies used;
Santoro Kori Kumi - Craft Consortium Ltd
Black cardstock - Anna Marie Designs
Paper - Docrafts Papermania Capsule Liquorice Sherbet
Sentiment from Hydrangea Stamp Set - Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine
Jet Black Premium Pigment Ink Pad - Dovecraft

Banner Die - Noor! Design
Button - Santoro Gorjuss
Paper flowers - stash
Feather - stash
Brad - stash
Black Graph It alcohol marker
White Medium Point Sharpie
Silver base card - stash

My final card uses more of the Docraft papers and a base image as a topper, outlined with white pen and layered on to black card. The card is embellished with ribbon, gems and buttons.  I have added a stamped and heat embossed sentiment on a die cut banner.

Supplies used;
Background paper - Docrafts Papermania Capsule Liquorice Sherbet
Black cardstock - Anna Marie Designs
Ribbon - stash
Gems - Poundland
Banner die - Noor! Designs
Buttons - Santoro Gorjuss

Simply Poppies - Imagination Crafts

Greetings everyone!

Today I'm sharing another Mother's Day card I made for my mum.  I made the G45 card with her in mind, and then I was having a play with paints and stencils and was so pleased with the result I decided to give it to my mum as Poppies are her favourite flower.

Supplies used;
Poppy Stencil, 15.2  x 15.2 cm Black Satin card, Starlight Paints; Pink Sorbet, Red, Apple Green & Chartreuse - Imagination Crafts (purchased from Keep on Crafting, Bury St Edmunds

If you can't get to Bury St Edmunds you can order online too with free UK P&P when you spend over £3.00, yes just £3.00!)

At first I was a bit disappointed that this wasn't a crisp image, but Mother Nature doesn't create Poppies to be perfect she creates them to be unique.
